Relaxation Massage

Why, its benefits, and what to expect!

Moore Massage Therapy Stittsville

Relaxation Massage

Prolonged periods of stress can negatively affect many systems of the body. Stress has been shown to aggravate, or even cause, such problems as heart disease, gastrointestinal disorders, memory loss and decreased immune function. But it doesn't just contribute to physical ailments. Stress can zap joy from your life, cause seemingly inexplicable fatigue, and leave you less able to enjoy your relationships and leisure activities. Loved ones can become unfortunate victims of stress in your life. You will find yourself less patient and less able to mentally engage with the people you care about.

Massage therapy is one of the best antidotes for stress. Most people don't take enough time off for themselves anymore. It's about time you pampered yourself with a relaxation massage! Relaxation massage (Swedish massage) is a smooth, flowing gentle style of massage designed to improve circulation and range of motion, relief minor muscle pain and promote overall relaxation.

During a relaxation massage, there is less emphasis on working out the serious adhesions or "knots" in the muscle tissue and the therapist won't push your pain limits in order to get the muscles to release. The primary purpose will be to help you relax.

Never feel guilty about getting a massage!

Relaxation Massage

Massage therapy has an effect on your WHOLE BODY and SELF. The manipulation of soft tissue has a therapeutic effect on the body in general that improves health and well being by acting on the muscular, nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems.
  • Calms the nervous system promoting a sense of relaxation and well being.
  • Reduces tension and anxiety
  • Improves blood circulation, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to the cells
  • Stimulates the lymphatic system, which carries away the body's waste products
  • Prevents and relieves muscle cramps and spasm.

What to expect.

Relaxation Massage The massage consists of the therapist applying gentle to medium pressure of the hands to the body, gently manipulating the tissue to promote relaxation. It is not a deep tissue massage. It can cover a wide range of areas of the body including the back, legs, arms and neck. The client will determine what areas of the body will be worked before the session begins and will be asked to remove their clothing to their level of comfort and to lie on the table in between the sheets/blankets. Once the session begins, the therapist only undrapes the body part being worked on at any one time. The massage takes place in a quiet, comfortable environment with lowered lights and relaxing music. The therapist will use an unscented oil in order to produce a more slippery surface to work on and so there is no pulling on the skin. During the massage, the patient can remain quiet and simply explore their own personal thoughts in their head, or chat with the therapist if so desired. The session is personalized to be exactly how you like it.

Enjoy!!!
